Pin new Etsy listings to Pinterest automatically

Etsy to Pinterest automation picks up each new listing in your Etsy shop and prepares a pin for it on the most suitable board. The pin’s title, description and alt text come from the listing, and a person approves each one before it is spaced out over the following days.

From a new Etsy listing to a pin on the right board.

  1. Step 01

    Listing found

Check the Etsy shop regularly for newly active listings, using each listing’s ID to spot ones not seen before.

  2. Step 02

    Board chosen

Pick a Pinterest board from the listing’s shop section and tags, using a mapping you set once.

  3. Step 03

    Pin written

Write a pin title, description and alt text from the listing, with a link back to it on Etsy.

  4. Step 04

    Pin approved

Add the draft pin to a Google Sheet, where a person edits, approves or skips it.

  5. Step 05

    Pins scheduled

Publish approved pins through the Pinterest API, spaced out over the following days.

The result

Every new product reaches Pinterest without a separate weekly chore.

Each listing is pinned once per board, using the listing ID as the reference. Nothing is published to Pinterest until a person approves it in the sheet.

Before we connect it.

Where this is useful

Useful for makers selling prints, jewellery, ceramics, candles and homeware, where Pinterest brings buyers but pinning every listing by hand keeps slipping. A sensible first version drafts one pin per new listing and leaves approval to you, then adds extra pins for listings with several strong photos.

What we need to connect

  1. 01Read access to your Etsy shop’s listings through an Etsy API app registered for your shop.
  2. 02A Pinterest business account with API access, and the boards you want each shop section or tag to map to.
  3. 03A Google Sheet for approvals, your preferred tone for pin descriptions and how many pins you want published each day.

What needs careful handling

Etsy listings are renewed and edited regularly, so the listing ID is used to tell a genuinely new listing from an updated one. When a listing sells out or is deactivated, its pins stay on Pinterest, so a weekly check lists pins pointing at inactive listings for a person to tidy up. Pinterest discourages publishing many near-identical pins at once, so pins are spread out and each one is written to stand on its own.

Questions people ask.

Doesn’t Pinterest connect to Etsy already?

You can claim your Etsy shop on a Pinterest business account, which links pins from your shop to your profile. It doesn’t create a pin for each new listing on the board you choose, which is the part this automation handles.

Could this work for Shopify instead?

Shopify has a Pinterest app that syncs your product catalogue for shopping features, so a different approach usually suits Shopify. This flow is aimed at Etsy sellers, who usually don’t have the same catalogue connection.
