Pause Google Ads when your Jobber diary is full

Capacity-based ad control compares the work booked in Jobber with how much your team can take on. When you are full it suggests pausing or lowering Google Ads budgets, and when space opens it suggests restoring them, applying each change only after the owner approves.

An example of how the studio would build it. No live services are connected.

From a full diary to ad spend that matches your capacity.

  1. Step 01

    Diary read

Read scheduled visits and jobs for the coming weeks from Jobber, grouped by team and type of work.

  2. Step 02

    Capacity compared

Compare booked hours with the hours each team can work, using the thresholds you set for busy and quiet.

  3. Step 03

    Change suggested

Suggest pausing or lowering budgets on specific campaigns when you’re full, or restoring them when space opens.

  4. Step 04

    Owner approves

Post the suggestion to Slack with the figures behind it, for the owner to approve or ignore.

  5. Step 05

    Ads updated

Apply approved changes in Google Ads, never above the budget you set, and log them for the weekly review.

The result

You stop paying for enquiries you can’t take on, and ads return when there’s room.

Changes only happen after approval and never raise a budget above the maximum you set. Campaigns marked as always on, such as emergency call-outs, are never suggested for pausing.

Before we connect it.

Where this is useful

Useful for landscapers, roofers, electricians, cleaners and removals firms whose diaries fill up in busy seasons while ads keep bringing enquiries they have to turn down. A sensible first version sends a daily capacity message with a suggested change, and the owner makes the change in Google Ads themselves until the suggestions prove sensible.

What we need to connect

  1. 01Jobber access through its API to read scheduled jobs and visits, with team assignments and expected durations.
  2. 02Google Ads API access to read campaigns and change their status or budget, plus a note of which campaigns belong to which service.
  3. 03Your working capacity per team, the thresholds for full and quiet, the maximum budget for each campaign and any campaigns that must always run.

What needs careful handling

Large budget changes and frequent pausing can unsettle Google’s automated bidding, so suggestions favour gradual budget changes over switching campaigns on and off. Some enquiries are for work months ahead, such as quotes for next spring, so a full diary this month doesn’t always mean every campaign should stop. Jobber visits without durations would distort the capacity figures, so they are flagged rather than guessed.

Questions people ask.

Couldn’t we just use ad scheduling?

Ad scheduling controls the days and times your ads run, which helps with opening hours but knows nothing about how full your diary is. This flow responds to your actual bookings, and works alongside any schedule you already have.

Does this work with booking systems other than Jobber?

Yes, where the system lets us read scheduled work through an API or a regular export. ServiceM8, Google Calendar and similar tools can feed the same capacity check.
