Photo quote requests for trades in ServiceM8

Photo quote requests collect the details an estimator needs, such as photos, rough measurements and access notes, at the moment a customer asks for a price. The request becomes a job in ServiceM8 with a map link to the property, and the estimator decides whether to quote remotely or book a visit.

An example of how the studio would build it. No live services are connected.

From a website request to a job ready to price.

  1. Step 01

    Request submitted

The homeowner describes the work, uploads photos, adds rough measurements and notes access, parking and timing.

  2. Step 02

    Job created

Create a quote job in ServiceM8 with the customer, address, description and photos attached.

  3. Step 03

    Location added

Add a Google Maps link that opens the satellite and Street View for the address, so the estimator can judge access and layout.

  4. Step 04

    Estimator decides

The estimator chooses whether the job can be priced from the details or needs a site visit.

  5. Step 05

    Next step booked

Either the quote is prepared in ServiceM8, or the customer is sent times for a survey visit.

The result

Quotes go out sooner, and site visits happen only when they’re needed.

Photos support a quote but never replace the estimator’s judgement, and no price is sent without a person approving it. The same customer and address are matched to an existing job instead of creating a duplicate.

Before we connect it.

Where this is useful

Useful for roofers, landscapers, driveway and fencing firms, window fitters and decorators who drive to every enquiry before knowing whether the job suits them. A sensible first version creates the job with photos attached and leaves every pricing and visit decision to the estimator.

What we need to connect

  1. 01A quote form that accepts photo uploads and asks clear questions for each type of work, such as area, height or number of windows.
  2. 02ServiceM8 access to create clients and jobs and attach files, through its API or an approved add-on connection.
  3. 03A Google Maps Platform key for address lookup, and your rules for which work can be priced from photos and which always needs a visit.

What needs careful handling

Customers often upload very large phone photos or the wrong files, so the form limits file types and the customer is asked again if nothing useful arrives. Measurements from customers are estimates, so any remote quote states its assumptions and is confirmed on the day before work starts. Satellite and Street View images can be years old, so they are used for context only and never as evidence of current condition.

Questions people ask.

Can I really quote from photos?

For some work, such as a fence replacement or a garden clearance, good photos and measurements are often enough for a firm price or a range. For anything structural or hidden, the photos simply help you decide whether a visit is worth the drive.

Doesn’t ServiceM8 already take enquiries online?

ServiceM8 has its own options for taking bookings and enquiries online, which may be enough on their own. A custom form helps when you want trade-specific questions, photo prompts or routing rules, and we check the built-in options first.
