Schedule short videos to TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts

Short video automation picks up finished clips from a shared folder, adds subtitles and drafts a caption for each platform. After a person approves them, Buffer schedules the posts to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts across your usual posting times.

An example of how the studio would build it. No live services are connected.

From a clip in a folder to posts queued on every platform.

  1. Step 01

    Clip added

Someone drops a finished vertical video into a shared Google Drive folder, with an optional note about what it shows.

  2. Step 02

    Speech transcribed

Transcribe any speech in the clip and prepare subtitles, burned in or as a caption file depending on the platform.

  3. Step 03

    Captions drafted

Draft a caption, hashtags and a title for each platform, within each one’s limits and in your tone.

  4. Step 04

    Person approves

Send the previews and captions to a person, who edits them and confirms everyone filmed agreed to appear.

  5. Step 05

    Posts scheduled

Queue the approved versions in Buffer for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, spread across your usual posting times.

The result

Clips your team films actually get posted, on every platform, at a steady pace.

Each video is scheduled once per platform, using its file ID as the reference. Nothing is posted until a person approves it and confirms that everyone shown agreed to be filmed.

Before we connect it.

Where this is useful

Useful for salons, gyms, bakeries, estate agents and other businesses where staff film good clips on their phones that never get posted. A sensible first version handles captions and scheduling for one platform, then adds subtitles and the others once the routine works.

What we need to connect

  1. 01A shared Google Drive folder for finished clips, and agreement on who can add videos to it.
  2. 02A Buffer account connected to your TikTok, Instagram professional and YouTube accounts, on a plan that supports video posting to each.
  3. 03Your tone, hashtag preferences, posting times and the person who approves each video.

What needs careful handling

Trending sounds and many music tracks can’t be added through scheduling tools and may not be licensed for business accounts, so music is added in the editing app beforehand or left out. Each platform has its own limits on length, captions and format, so a clip that doesn’t fit one platform is flagged rather than cut automatically. Depending on the account, Buffer may send a phone notification asking someone to finish a TikTok post in the app rather than publishing it directly.

Questions people ask.

Will the same caption go on every platform?

No. Each platform gets its own caption and hashtags, written for how people use it, and YouTube Shorts gets a title as well. The video itself can be the same, which is what keeps the workflow quick.

Who edits the videos?

Your team still films and edits the clips, so they look and sound like your business. The automation takes over after that: subtitles, captions, approval and scheduling.
